Scrub Jay Nest and Moon
watercolor+ink and acrylic
12x12 inches

This painting was inspired by a nest that was in our hedge. A pair of scrub jays nested there last spring. It was a beautifully made nest of sticks that the jays had lined with what looked like horsehair and maybe strands of rope? I added some milkweed and fern from my garden as well as a little gold crescent moon.
This painting is framed in a light color wood frame, called a "floater frame", and it enhances the painting and yet doesn't interfere with the edges of the painting.
